Hi, I'm Jen
I completed my PhD in Organizational Behaviour through the Smith School of Business at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario in 2014. Since then, I have been an Associate Professor in the DAN Department of Management and Organizational Studies at Western University in London, Ontario. I also hold a cross appointed Adjunct Research Professorship in the Department of Psychology at Western.
My research focuses on psychological issues involved in organizational environmental sustainability and the nature and prediction of leadership. I also enjoy researching topics related to positive organizational psychology. Through the department of psychology, I run the Micro Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility Lab.
My scholarship has been internationally recognized through an Emerald Citations of Excellence Award and an Emerald Literati Award. I have presented my research at various international conferences and invited talks, and recently, I was the keynote speaker at the Norwegian Network for Environmental Psychology Conference. My research has been published in top-tier journals, including The Journal of Organizational Behavior, The Leadership Quarterly and The Journal of Business Ethics. Together, with Dr. Julian Barling, I am the Editor of the book The Psychology of Green Organizations published by Oxford University Press. I have been awarded grants through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and I have obtained numerous internal grants from my department and Western University to fund my research.
Personally, I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. My focus that brings me most joy in life is my daughter. I love immersing myself into her world, gaining a perspective on life that I left behind in my own childhood. I also enjoy beach days on Lake Huron with my family, cooking, practicing yoga, biking, downhill skiing and visiting with family and friends. In the last few years, I have taken up a meditation practice that I try to nurture daily.
